SLUM
This is no secret that the slums of Bangladesh are the worst affected areas of plastic pollution. The narrow paths, landfills, and shallow water bodies- everything is filled with rubbish – especially with non-compostable plastic. Aside from the land and water pollution, the toxicity of burnt plastic (instead of proper disposal) also creates a health hazard for the people living here. To make things worse, slum residents, including children, are often involved in collecting these plastics for some extra cash, but without using any proper protections (e.g., shoes, gloves). Hence, this project aims to create awareness among slum children about the harmful impacts of plastics- especially on their health. Around 50 children would be educated on the topic and would be encouraged to live and work in a safer condition.
